Product Reviews

  • Chaco is my favorite flavor, but Thai is also great

I absolutely love these bars and never buy any other type of protein bar anymore. I have to agree with another reviewer about the Aztec flavor, though, it's dry and gritty and the flavor isn't wonderful.

I used to like Chaco flavor less than Thai, but now Chaco is my favorite flavor. The Thai has a bit of a kick from the ginger and a delightfully complex mix of flavors, which I like, but the Chaco has a nice, subtle chocolate flavor mixed with the chewy, delicious dates and peanut crunch. (I am making myself hungry!)

I've started eating these as a treat/snack day-to-day and not just a protein bar to have occasionally while hiking/camping and after working out. I am addicted and have a bit of a self-control problem when it comes to eating Chaco bars!!

The newer package is tougher to open. It's a bit of a pain and I sometimes need to use scissors.

  • Great taste, good ingredients .

Enjoyed this bar very much, satisfying and not as sweet as many other bars on market. Going to order another box right now. Agree with many of the other comments, would like to see a higher protein version aka more cricket!

  • Wide taste variation

You'd never know there were crickets in these bars. While the Thai bars are great as in 5 star I'd buy them again great, the Chaco bars just so-so, like mediocre quiki-mart brownies. I'm sorry to say I thought the Aztec bars were dreadful, as in why bother eating these. I admit I'm not a fan of spicy chocolate, but this was not about the cayenne but rather the muddy taste and dried up consistency.

  • Happy Mother's Day

This is my 12 year old son's favorite flavor and we will keep ordering these bars. I am so happy that he likes this product not only for its nutrition but also it is a great catalyst for gaining acceptance of cricket flour as well as building continued support for water conservation projects. My one suggestion for the next generation of bars is more cricket flour protein so that the ratio of protein to sugar shifts higher.

  • Smooth, rich, delicious.

The choco is so unbelievably delicious and satisfying. It absolutely hits the spot, without being overwhelmingly sweet OR bitter. Just rich, thick, and chocolaty.

  • unique in a good sense

when I visited Asia all I ate was food from the Hard Rock Cafe and it was Westernized food. I would have liked to tasted something culturally original even if it consisted of insects in the food. crickets taste pretty decent actually.

  • Interesting - give it a try!

I see insects as a viable part of a solution to the environmental costs of growing beef. I can't help but imagine that humans have eaten a lot of insects in history and there are probably lots of hidden benefits. And it makes a lot more sense than growing meat in petri dishes :-)

  • eat more bugs!

I Loved the taste, texture and your mission. Consider a higher protein content . Thanks for a great product .

  • Sweet & Energetic

Love the taste though a bit concerned that it may be a bit too high in sugar and too low in protein. Would prefer to be doubled the protein at least personally.

  • Unsure about nutrition

They taste pretty good, better than most bars, although one thing I noticed is that the cricket flour is like the 4th or 5th ingredient, and I wonder how much of the 7g of protein in a bar is from the cricket flour itself, and how much is from other protein-containing ingredients which are more prevalent in the bar.
